Getting the most from it
A bottomless portafilter shows you what the coffee is doing, so it helps most with a single wall basket and a grinder that grinds for espresso. On a dual wall basket or with pre ground coffee there is little to see: our basket guide shows the difference in five seconds. If your first shots spray sideways, that is channelling the spouted portafilter was hiding, and our channelling guide shows the fixes, starting with the free ones.
Guides for your machine: Bambino and Bambino Plus, Barista Express upgrades, in order, Barista Express Impress, Barista Pro and Barista Touch. Comparing options? Our bottomless portafilter buying guide covers the checks and UK prices.
Not sure this fits your machine?
It fits every Sage and Breville machine that takes a 54mm portafilter, which is all of the home range: Barista Express, Barista Express Impress, Barista Pro, Barista Touch, Bambino, Bambino Plus, Infuser and Duo Temp Pro. It does not fit the Dual Boiler or the Oracle, which are 58mm. Our portafilter size guide lists every model code, and shows you how to check your own machine in ten seconds.
If it arrives and does not fit the machine listed above, the return is free and we pay the postage.
